Birth Certificates

The Probate Office maintains birth records for anyone born in Jackson County. In addition, we are able to provide birth records for persons born in any county in the State of Georgia, as long as those records were filed with the State Vital Records Office. The Jackson County Probate Court also files amended and delayed birth certificates as well as Paternity Acknowledgements and processes new birth certificates for individuals legitimized by marriage. Certified copies of birth records may be requested in person or in writing via mail.

Certified Copy Costs

The cost of certified copies of birth certificates are $25 for the first copy, and $5 for each additional copy obtained on the same visit.

We accept cash, check, and money order. If obtaining a copy of a birth certificate in person, payment can be made with a debit or credit card for a small processing fee, but we are unable to accept credit card payments for requests made by mail.

Birth certificates can only be released to the named individual or family members with the following degrees of relation to the individual, and proper identification is required:
  • Adult Child
  • Adult Sibling
